Frequently Asked Questions

What is masters synchronized swimming?

Masters are swimmers aged 19 and up. We compete against other swimmers in our age category – for duets, trios and teams, the category is determined by the average age of the team members. We do not have figures competitions but we do swim a tech routine with required elements.

My daughter is interested in synchro – can you help?

We are a masters-only club, so unless your daughter is 19 or older (in which case, please direct her to the Join Us page), she’ll need to wait before she’s able to swim with us. In the meantime, you can check out the Links page for some other Toronto-area synchro clubs, as well as the national and provincial organizations. The City of Toronto Parks and Recreation department also runs some synchro classes – their guide is here.

I’m over 19 and I’ve never done synchro in my life. I don’t want to commit to joining a team until I know if I even like the sport. What can I do?

The City of Toronto has an introduction to synchro class for adults, which would be a good place to start.

Can men do synchronized swimming?

Of course they can. We don’t have any men on our team right now, but we’d love to hear from you. If you’d prefer to swim with other men you should contact Breathless Synchro.
